    Orchid Plants
Orchids are some of the most popular house plants you'll find. They display beautiful colours and are quite hardy.
    Orchid Lighting Conditions
The ideal place in the home for growing orchids is a bright window, free from drafts, where your orchid plants receive indirect sunlight both morning and afternoon.
    Orchid Temperature
Some Orchids can tolerate fluctuating temperature conditions better than others. Most Orchids will adapt readily to conditions offered by any home or greenhouse, but be sure to research your Orchid plant carefully, some are far hardier than others.

    Orchid Brief History

Orchids have captured the curiosity of generations since the time of Theophratus (372-287 B.C.). He was a student of Aristotle's and thought orchids had medicinal qualities. Orchids have been sought through the years for their beauty and fragrance. They were the subject of watercolors by the ancient Chinese and Japanese who prized their long graceful leaves and wide variety of colorful blooms. Confucius (551-479 B.C.) wrote often about orchids, comparing the scent of their blooms to the joys of friendship

One hundred and twenty million years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, a magnificent flowering plant came into being—the orchid. Evolution led to the demise of many plants and animals, but the orchid flourished, thriving on every continent save Antarctica. Orchids have adapted to live in all kinds of environments—mountains, bogs, grasslands and rainforests. At least 35,000 orchid species now populate the planet—and there is always the possibility that unknown species still await discovery.
